Things to do in December in The Mt Washington Valley

The beauty of the holiday season is always enchanting in Mount Washington Valley. The lights in North Conway are magical, making the winter nights bright and beautiful. The shops and restaurants are decorated and the ski slopes beckon. There’s no shortage of things to do in December. Here are a few highlights:

December 1-2, Annual Festival of Trees, Settler’s Green Over 100 beautiful and creative trees, both large and small will be raffled, a silent auction, entertainment and light hors d'oeuvres, and of course a visit and photos with Santa and Mrs. Clause will help kick off your holiday season. Weekends December 2-23, Santa’s Holiday Express, Conway Scenic Railroad Santa’s Holiday Express offers an hour-long seasonal journey down the Conway Branch for families with young children. M&D Playhouse Presents A Christmas Carol - A Ghost Story of Christmas. Eastern Slope Inn Playhouse. This theatrical and spirited version puts the phantasmagoric qualities of Charles Dickens’ classic tale center stage. A swirling, dancing chorus of ghosts that weave through this uplifting holiday story of redemption, magic, and hope. This version has been performed for almost a million people over the years and the New York Times heralds it as “…rousing and crowd pleasing”. December 9-10 Inn-to-Inn Cookie Tour Join us December 9 and 10, 2023 for the weekend the Country Inns in the White Mountains provide holiday revelers with the ultimate in sweet dreams at the 26th Annual Inn to Inn Holiday Cookie Tour® held from 11 am to 3 pm each day. Participants will not only tour inns decked in all their holiday finery offering signature holiday cookies and candies, but will receive recipes from each inn in a Holiday Recipe Cookbook to take home and a chance to win a $250 gift certificate for a getaway at the inn of their choice. December 14, Tin Mountain Nature Learning Center, Albany NH 7-8 PM “What Makes a Moose a Moose?” What is the state of New Hampshire’s moose population? How are these ungulates faring with the recent winters? Join N.H. Fish & Game’s Moose Project Leader, Henry Jones, for an update on the state of the state’s moose population. He will cover the history of the moose population in the state and the animal’s life history. Jones will also discuss the state’s management strategies and research efforts. December 16, Tin Mountain Nature Learning Center Albany NH, all day Join Tin Mountain for the 35th Annual North Conway Christmas Bird Count.
